PESTOVA HISTORY
Pestova shpk (L.L.C.) is a vertically integrated company, which starts from production of potato seed, cultivation of potatoes for consumption and processing, as well as sale and distribution of potato and its products.
It was founded as a private company in 1991 and re-registered in 1999. Since January 2008, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is a shareholder in Pestova.
The business activities of the company are:
- Import, production and sale of potato seed,
- Sale of agricultural machinery & inputs,
- Production and sale of fresh potatoes,
- Potato processing in Chips and other products such as Flips, Snacks, Stix.
We, in Pestovo, believe that high quality production starts from the fields, therefore we are dedicated to maintaining high standards of quality and durability, which make our products safe and tasty. Potatoes are produced as property owned by the company and in cooperation with farmers in the region of Kosovo and Albania. Potato processing is done with the most modern equipment and under the supervision of experts trained in European Union countries with many years of experience.
We, in Pestovo, believe that high quality production starts from the fields, therefore we are dedicated to maintain farms, select farmers/subcontractors every year based on the criteria set according to the GLOBAL GAP standard. To selected farmers, the company offers quality seeds, different varieties of potatoes, tips for applying new agricultural practices, use of fertilizers, plant protection products, tips on how and when to irrigate, as well as control and monitoring throughout vegetation in order to ensure high quality potatoes, we maintain high standards of quality and durability, which make our products safe and delicious.
Only potatoes selected and certified with the GLOBAL GAP standard are sent for processing or packaging for fresh consumption.
FOOD QUALITY AND SAFETY
Production quality and customer safety are a high priority for our company. The entire production process is regularly checked through quality control tests, which are performed in our laboratory and in accredited local and international laboratories. Pestova is committed to applying best practices for food production, according to GLOBALGAP, HACCP and ISO 9001:2008 standards
GLOBALGAP standards guarantee that the potatoes produced are safe and cultivated in a sustainable way according to the standards of the European Union.
HACCP is a system that identifies specific hazards and regulates measures to control them to ensure food quality and safety.
ISO 9001:2008 sets out the procedures for a company quality management system. As a result, the company demonstrates its ability to continuously deliver products that meet customer requirements, as well as aims to increase customer satisfaction through effective system implementation, including processes for continuous improvement.
